Who was my teen idol?
Back in junior high, I used to watched re-runs of the original Wonder Woman TV series, the one with Lynda Carter in it. I loved the way she would spin around to transform from a geeky looking lady to the ultra sexy Wonder Woman. Then she would proceed to fight and kick the bad guys away and then return to her “normal” life, as if it didn’t happened.
Much to my delight, I found out that Lynda Carter was once a beauty queen, the title holder of Miss World USA in 1972. Another thing, she can carry a tune and even released some albums. I found out that until now, she still sings and is still recognized in the entertainment industry.
I think I can put a name to my feelings back then, a “girl crush”. Admiring Lynda Carter/Wonder Woman was fun while it lasted. Then, like all teen girls do, I moved on from it.
But Wonder Woman will always have a pleasant dent in my heart. Sometimes, I think of spinning around to see if I’ll become the heroine herself.
